My name is Mumya and I am a princess from the streets of Kalloni. Did you know street life gives you babies? Well, as a young female, I was quite popular and finally I got pregnant. Street life also makes you itchy and you end up with blood sucking insects all over your body including your eyes. Besides my physical beauty, my honey colored eyes with permanent eyeliner all around them, I also have the most relaxed attitude towards life. I’m not scared of people or other dogs.
All I really want is to be cuddled and to play. But of course nobody knew about these until the day I ran into this sweet lady on the street one day. She immediately cuddled me and started checking my body. Then she took me to a vet where my body was checked again. I was given some bitter food they call pills and they took away all the blood suckers. I was then put on a throne (they call it a car) and brought to a house with a big garden. I was given a lot of food and love and a very comfortable bed.
I fell in love with these people immediately. They also knew I wouldn’t go anywhere so they never tied me or locked me up. There are other three dogs here that I managed to charm easily so we are best friends now. A week later, I gave birth to 6 little pups. I looked after them very well. They are 8 weeks old now and we are still together. I love my life here. I have a sofa to myself. I go on many walks. I get a lot of food. I get a lot of love. In return I show them my real merits. I fetch balls, for example, you throw it and I bring it back to you. I learned to sit within minutes. Here, that’s what we do all day, we give love, we take love.
In our shelter
Dogs like Mumya are also welcome in our shelter. We conduct neutering campaigns aimed at birth control to ensure no more puppies are born, but when we found Mumya, her pregnancy was already at an advanced stage. We gave her medical care and found a quiet place for her with our volunteer Aylin, where she could give birth. She now has 6 beautiful healthy pups. We are looking to rehome both adorable Mumya and her pups.
